Handling Frozen Fries and Snacks: Storage and Frying Basics
8 Oct 2026 4 min read Shri Ram Trading Company

Frozen fries, wedges, patties and potato snacks are a staple of quick-service menus because they cook fast and taste the same every time. A few simple habits protect that quality.
Keep the cold chain unbroken
Frozen products should be kept at a steady freezer temperature, generally -18°C or below. Move stock into the freezer as soon as it arrives, and avoid leaving cartons out during busy periods. Repeated thawing and refreezing hurts texture and can cause ice crystals and clumping.
Do not thaw before frying
Most frozen fries and snacks are designed to go straight from freezer to fryer. Thawing first can make them soggy and oily. Always follow the cooking instructions printed on the pack.
Frying tips
- Preheat oil to the recommended temperature before adding the product.
- Do not overload the basket, as it drops the oil temperature and makes fries greasy.
- Shake the basket gently once or twice during cooking for even colour.
- Drain well and season right away so the salt sticks.
- Filter and change oil on a regular schedule.
First in, first out
Label cartons with the date received and use the oldest stock first. Check the best-before date on each delivery.
